Kristen is a thoughtful and dedicated nonprofit leader with a 20+ year track record of effectively managing program teams and driving impact. She has served on nonprofit boards and committees, volunteered for numerous community-based organizations, and co-founded a collective giving circle.
Realizing her most fulfilling career moments involved helping others build their capacity to achieve success, Kristen now serves as an independent consultant. She’s driven by a mission to help organizations build their capacity to deliver enduringly impactful programs, benefits and services characterized by compassion, exceptional quality, and consistency.
Kristen’s approach to consulting mirrors her style of leadership. She uses active listening skills, observation, data, and curiosity to build an understanding of an organization’s needs and goals. Building on that understanding, Kristen leverages strong facilitation skills, diplomacy, and her own professional experience to help nonprofit leaders gain perspective and clarity in order to make and implement key decisions.
Like many nonprofit leaders, Kristen has worn several hats. She’s served as a caseworker, job developer, program coordinator, project manager, operations manager, and associate director for a variety of nonprofit organizations, including labor, fraternal benefits societies, and charitable organizations.
Kristen obtained a B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. She has a M.S. in Public Services Administration at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. She completed the board consulting course with BoardSource and the Everything DiSC® certification from Wiley Brands.
Kristen finds joy through mindfulness practices, travel, photography, and supporting the Chicago Cubs.
